- For
those with "razor bumps" (PFB): Apply Tend Skin two
to three times per day at first. Once the skin clears (usually
in 48 hours), you must apply it daily to maintain clear skin.
You also must shave daily to maintain clear skin. We strongly
advise using a single edge razor, replacing it after two shaves.
Do Not Use Clippers!! Applying before shaving will decrease the
burning and itching associated with PFB. Applying after shaving
or at night will work just fine.
- You
will find your own pattern of use.
- For
men who have unsightly razor burn on their necks or redness from
wearing a tie, applying Tend Skin once or twice should clear
the skin overnight. Daily use will prevent the problem.
- WOMEN:
- For
Ingrown Hair:
- Applying
Tend Skin to existing ingrown hairs will clear them in hours
to overnight. Tweezing is not needed. Use to lift ingrown hairs
prior to shaving, making them easier to remove.
- For
use with Electrolysis:
- Applying
after electrolysis will quench the burning and eliminate the
redness within minutes. Applying several times weekly will prevent
ingrown hair formation.
- For
use with waxing:
- Apply
Tend Skin after waxing to eliminate redness within minutes. Apply
every day or every other day to prevent ingrown hair formation.

PROFESSIONAL
USE OF TEND SKIN FOR WAXING / ELECTROLYSIS
- To
obtain the maximum benefit from Tend Skin in conjunction with
professional hair removal methods, we recommend the following
steps:
- Clients
with preexisting ingrown hair problems should be sold a bottle
of Tend Skin for home use. Advise the client to apply the product
several times daily prior to hair removal. Ideal times to use
the product would be after showering in the morning and before
retiring at night. This approach will permit lifting of existing
ingrown hairs prior to waxing or electrolysis, making hair removal
in the salon much cleaner and neater.
- After
waxing or electrolysis, apply Tend Skin to the area. After 15-20
minutes all skin redness should be gone. Your client will leave
your salon with skin free from redness. There may be slight stinging
when applying Tend Skin after waxing or electrolysis, but it
will pass almost immediately.
- Tend
Skin will not be needed for at least a week after waxing/electrology,
as it takes time for hair to grow enough to form an "ingrown
hair". Then, the client should be instructed to apply Tend
Skin 2-3 times weekly to maintain ingrown hair free skin. Weekly
application of the product may have to be adjusted for the individual
depending on the skin and hair types involved.
- INSTRUCTIONS
FOR AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALES WITH RAZOR BUMPS (PFB)
- For
best results
- apply with cotton ball or cotton square. African-American men
who suffer with Pseudofolliculitis Barbae have special product
use requirements. Most men with PFB utilize electric clippers
like a barber uses to shave the neck, instead of a razor.
- African-American
men and even Caucasian men (15-20%) with PFB must be educated
regarding shaving technique.
These men are often afraid to use a razor blade on their faces.
We learned from men in the military who are required to shave
daily how to get the best results. Here is what we learned:
Instruct these clients to use a simple edge razor. Tell
them to discontinue using clippers. Single edge razor must be
discarded after 2-3 uses!!! This is critical. Dull blades
make razor bumps!!.
They must apply Tend Skin daily after shaving. These steps
will insure satisfactory results.
- Common
Problems With PFB Clients
- "The
product worked at first but then stopped working." In this
case, the client has likely used the product only once, achieved
results, but didn't realize he had to use it daily.
- The
product will not work properly in many cases if electric razors
or clippers are used.
- Many
men will shave only once or twice a week. They
must shave daily!!
- Please
NOTE: Some crystal formation is normal in cold climates.
Product performance is not affected. It will disappear after
several days at room temperature.
